K20 brings together young scholars PDF Print E-mail

The UMJC K20 initiative co-sponsored a gathering of young Messianic Jewish scholars in Beverly Hills, California, January 27-29. The young scholars event was launched several years ago as a cooperative effort of the Yachad Network, Chosen People Ministries, MJTI (Messianic Jewish Theological Institute), and the UMJC. After a hiatus of three years, this year's event was jointly sponsored by MJTI, Messianic Literature Outreach, and K20, to bring together about thirty younger Messianic Jewish scholars from around the country for  worship and in-depth discussion on topics like the importance of Jewish study of the Gospels, Kosher laws, women in the Talmud, the interpretation of the book of Job, and others. Participants noted the excellence of not only the presentations themselves, but also of the interactive discussion of participants. Several older mentors were invited and one commented, “We sometimes ask whether Messianic Judaism will thrive beyond one generation, and we can see here that the answer is definitely yes!” Younger participants also noted how encouraging the event was, altand also its effectiveness in helping to define a place for their continued participation in the Messianic Jewish community.
