Executive officers Jamie Cowen and Michael Schiffman, and International Director Walter Lieber, attended a unique Russian Messianic Jewish conference in Berlin, September 5-7. Sponsored by Chosen People Ministries, the conference was coordinated entirely by Russian-speaking leaders and conducted entirely in Russian. The UMJC leaders were invited to make connections with Russian leaders and introduce them to the benefits of UMJC membership.

October 13-22, newly-elected UMJC Secretary Jeff Feinberg, and his wife Pat, were in Russia as delegates with People-to-People International, a cultural exchange program started by President Eisenhower in 1956. Delegates visited a children's library, universities, cultural centers, and homes in St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Novgorod, to discuss folklore, and trade stories and songs with their Russian counterparts.

The Feinbergs also met with Russian Messianic leaders to provide intensive training for teachers and home group leaders for the growing Messianic Jewish movement there.
