Shalom!
THANK YOU for your prayers and participation in helping
to establish congregations for Yeshua within the House of Israel. As
you may have already read at www.umjc.org, UMJC President Jamie Cowen
and I had an exciting and fruitful trip to Israel last month. We
were invited to Israel by a Member of the Knesset (MK) who chairs the
Social Welfare lobby. This group identifies humanitarian aid projects
in Israel and helps bring together resources to accomplish them. As a
result of some amazing developments in Israel and among believers in
Yeshua around the world, the MK is now inviting Messianic Jewish groups
to help with some of these projects. This means an opportunity for us
to bless the people of Israel in Yeshua's name. To listen to a recent report on our trip to Israel, click here: |

Shalom friends, Jamie touring the military base I've just returned from a trip to Israel with UMJC President Jamie Cowen. I'm pleased to report that the Messianic movement is alive and well in the Land of Israel, including lots of younger people and growing emphasis on an indigenous Jewish Israeli movement for Yeshua. I also have to tell you, however, that there is widespread poverty in Israel today, with 20-25% of the population living below the poverty line. Jamie and I discussed humanitarian aid projects with both Messianic Jewish and political leaders in Israel. Messianic Jewish efforts to help the poor are gaining recognition in Israel. Yeshua remains a great source of controversy in Israel, but his reputation is being steadily enhanced as his followers contribute to the welfare of the whole people of Israel. Memorial candles for fallen soldiers This trip, however, came in response to an invitation by a member of the Knesset Committee on Social Welfare. Jamie and I had two private meetings with him, one of which lasted for a full day, as we toured an Israeli military base and a nearby children's home. During these meetings he asked us as American Messianic Jewish leaders to consider participating in humanitarian projects with his committee, which we were eager to do. We were also able to raise important issues regarding the Israeli Messianic community with this MK (member of the Knesset), and he was very receptive.
If you would like to help purchase Passover baskets for families of fallen IDF soldiers, click on the menorah to the right.
Each basket of Passover supplies goes to a family of a soldier and costs $100. The basket includes wine, meat, fish, veggies, matzos, dessert, and trimmings. It is enough for one person to eat seven days.
You or your group can sponsor as many as you like--or any fraction thereof. Every contribution is an opportunity to share the love of Yeshua with the people of Israel.

Dr. Daniel Juster The audio below is a message by Dan Juster from a recent conference sponsored by the Road to Jerusalem. This is just one of several, mostly less-publicized, efforts we are making to connect with the wider Christian
and Jewish worlds. This message was a real winner that I wanted you all to
hear. Shalom, Russ Resnik |

Jamie Cowen, UMJC President Pat Robertson's diatribe regarding Ariel Sharon's fate comes as a bit of a surprise.
by Jamie Cowen (from Richmond.com - Tuesday, January 10, 2006)
As Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon hovers between life and
death, Christian leader Pat Robertson pronounced the prime minister's
fate was the judgment of God due to Sharon's orchestrating the Israeli
withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank. According to
Robertson, Sharon's actions violated the Biblical prohibition of
dividing the land. Despite the deserved outcry against Robertson's
declaration, Robertson has been a consistent supporter of the modern
state of Israel, and a friend of numerous Israeli politicians,
including Sharon. So, Robertson's diatribe comes as a bit of a
surprise. |

Russ Resnik, Exec. Director Shalom friends,
Recent news from Israel has been both remarkable and
troubling, with the departure of Prime Minister Sharon from the
political scene and the election of a Hamas government over the
Palestinians. We need to pray more fervently than ever for the peace of
Jerusalem and the whole land of Israel. This month, UMJC President
Jamie Cowen and I are traveling to Israel to seek first-hand insight
into the situation there. We organized this trip in response to an
invitation from a member of the Knesset who is involved with
programs for the poor. He has garnered support and participation from
the worldwide Christian community, and now sees the importance of
involving the Messianic Jewish community as well. We, of course, share
his concerns overpoverty in Israel, which is affecting 25-30 percent of the population.
Jamie and I will report back to you via a phone-in conference after we return. Please
join us by dialing 1.888.346.5716, toll-free, at 8:00 PM EST [7:00 PM
Central, 6:00 PM Mountain, 5:00 PM Pacific], on Thursday, March 9. The call will last about a half hour and include time for questions and answers. Hope you can make it!
In Israel we also want to bring up the plight of
some Messianic believers who are undergoing harassment and abuse at the
hands of one ultra-orthodox group.
